Spin-dependent effective interactions for halo nuclei

چکیده
We discuss the spin dependence of the effective two-body interactions appropriate for three-body computations. The only reasonable choice seems to be the fine and hyperfine interactions known for atomic electrons interacting with the nucleus. One exception is the nucleon-nucleon interaction imposing a different type of symmetry. We use the two-neutron halo nucleus Li as an illustration. We demonstrate that models with the wrong spin dependence are basically without predictive power. The Pauli forbidden core and valence states must be consistently treated.

متن کاملImplications of Recent Nucleon Spin Structure Measurements For Neutralino Dark Matter Detection
Predicted rates for direct and indirect detection of dark-matter neutralinos depend in general on the spin content of the nucleon. Neutralinos that are predominantly B-ino are the likeliest candidates for detection via spin-dependent interactions. Uncertainties in the measured spin content of the nucleon may lead to dramatic uncertainties in the rates for detection of B-inos by scattering off o...

The isospin dependence of the spin-orbit interaction in light neutron rich nuclei is investigated in the framework of relativistic mean field theory. The magnitude of the spin-orbit potential is considerably reduced in drip line nuclei, resulting in smaller energy split-tings between spin-orbit partners. The effect does not depend on the parametrization of the effective Lagrangian. The results ...
